JET's STEM Programme began in the UK in February 2018. Since then, it has grown into an award-winning initiative, recognised for its impact and dedication to widening access to technology careers.

Today, we are a team of over 150 STEM volunteers from across our business, spanning offices worldwide, united by our commitment to inspire and educate the next generation.

We offer structured week-long placements at our London and Bristol offices, giving students a behind-the-scenes look at the technology industry. Participants join meetings, workshops, and panel discussions, and have the opportunity to shadow teams in Engineering, Data, and Product.

STEM coding workplace visits (London)

Hosting students in our offices to give a behind-the-scenes look at the tech industry and empowering girls and under represented groups  to dream big, keep learning and keep breaking barriers.

The workshop includes:
- An introduction to Just Eat Takeaway as a tech business
- Undertaking a coding challenge building their own food ordering applications; adding menu items and creating orders along with a receipt for their orders
- Followed by a Q&A session about the different engineering roles here at JET.

work experience (London & Bristol)

By completing work experience for one week at JET, students have the opportunity to learn about the Technology industry, through discovering roles and responsibilities within Product & Tech and learn more about their own preferences when it comes to future careers and working environments.

Students spend a week within our P&T teams, with three and a half days consisting of joining meetings, workshops, panel discussions and talks with volunteers across various roles at JET.

They will also have the opportunity to work more closely with a P&T team of their choice, such as Engineering or Data for a full day of work shadowing/activities.

Black Tech Fest

We were a key sponsor of Black Tech Fest, held on October 9, 2025, at Drumsheds in London.

The event attracted over 5,000 attendees, with a strong focus on diversity, notably including 56% women in attendance.
Our dedicated exhibition booth saw continuous foot traffic throughout the day. JET ambassadors were on hand to connect directly with attendees, generating significant interest in current and future tech roles at our company.

We hosted a series of popular CV Workshops where pre-registered attendees received direct and personalised feedback from our Talent Acquisition teams, providing tangible value and strengthening our recruitment pipeline.

Girls Day 2026

We had 20 female students from the Bonhoeffer College visiting the Enschede office on the 14th of April 2026. We gave them a glance at what’s possible for a career in Tech, and that it’s not just a man’s world.

We let them map out a whole user journey for a food delivery app.

a day at the office with TUMO

Together with Adyen, TomTom and Miro we held a very engaging session with students from Amsterdam to introduce them to programming.

Through our partnership with UpTree, we will be hosting students across London and Bristol for a week-long work experience programme. Students will have the opportunity to shadow different roles, take part in hands-on and skills-based workshops, hear directly from our colleagues about their career journeys, and present their learnings at the end of the week. This initiative supports UpTree’s mission to connect students with meaningful career opportunities and help them transition from education into the world of work.

JET & proud

We are also collaborating with Urban Synergy, an award-winning youth empowerment charity, to provide structured mentoring opportunities for young people. Across three cohorts each year, JET colleagues will volunteer as mentors, supporting mentees through a guided programme that includes CV development, mock interviews, and presentation skills. Mentors receive full training and support, ensuring they are equipped to make a meaningful impact while helping young people build confidence and achieve their potential.
